As a prerequisite, all members are required to be holders of a
bachelor degree or equivalent, as a minimum, and must take the APTS certification examination in translation and/or interpreting from and/or to Arabic. Membership is divided into
five classes:

Certified Translator: Any Arabic translator who meets qualification requirements and satisfactorily passes the APTS translator certification examination.
- Certified Interpreter:
Any Arabic interpreter who meets qualification requirements and satisfactorily passes the APTS interpreter certification examination.
- Certified Translator/Interpreter:
Any Arabic translator and interpreter who meets qualification requirements and satisfactorily passes the APTS translator and interpreter certification examination.
- Certified Associate:
Any Arabic translator/interpreter who meets qualification requirements and satisfactorily passes the APTS translator/interpreter certification examination, but does not hold a 4-year university degree.

and/or translation teaching
experience.

Application for Membership
|
Applications for membership are
submitted by completing the
TEST
APPLICATION FORM. The APTS Member Services Unit processes all applications for membership, arranges for certification testing, and informs applicants of the status of their applications. Qualified applicants can take the test at any nearby Official APTS Certification Examiner’s office.
Verification of original
certificates and supporting
documents by the APTS certification
examiner may be required. Please

Tests are sent to the Examination Committee for evaluation, and the names of certified members are published on the APTS website. Certified members can order a certificate, a membership card and a certified member stamp.
We have Official APTS Certification Examiners in all Arab countries, as well as in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia. Our examiners network continues to expand, as more examiners are added to our growing list. |

Disciplinary Action
|
Unethical or unprofessional conduct in violation of the APTS Professional Code of Ethics, willful misconduct in the performance of services, and misrepresentation or fraudulent statements in the membership application form, may cause suspension or expulsion from membership. |
